Funniest headline this week...
(and it's only monday)

"Bush accuses Democrats of lacking plan for Iraq" Reuters

"If you listen carefully for a Democrat plan for success, they don't have one. Iraq is the central front in the war on terror, yet they don't have a plan for victory," he said.

Hahahahahahahaha

The MPAA strikes again (part III)

Once again the lobby group have chosen to act alone in Sweden (proper channels and lobby groups just don't mix). This time it's 100 students from Vaxjo University that have been banned from using school computers (network) after tips from "Hollywood".

In other Swedish-US news...

The Ark are cancelling tour dates in the US after lead singer "joked" about a plane that flew over the bands gig at the opening of the new Swedish embassy in DC might be heading for the White House.

Appearently a lot of Americans didn't find the "joke" as fun as frontman Ola Salo did, and the band have receive some death threats.

Peace Haters?

we eat rotten fish but fear team Cheney-Rumsfeld

A kinda stupid poll taken by usually smart polling company Temo shows that the Swedes views the US as the biggest threat to world peace.

SVT.se (in Swedish)

Out of a thousand people asked, 29% said the US is the biggest threat with North Korea coming in a close second with 28%. Poor Iran had to settle for third with 18%.
The (most) stupid part was that the people asked could only select one out of the three countries above plus China, Russia and Israel. No Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan or San Francisco!?!

It was mostly the lefties that said they saw the US as the biggest threat (suprise, suprise), but also 20% of the people who said they belonged to conservative parties the Moderates and the Christian Democrats had the US as number one.

Bill O'Reilly is still a lying (or stupid) little weasel

O'Reilly on Letterman
OneGoodMove

Bill is still pushing the false narratives that everyone thought Saddam had WMDs and that Al Qaeda were operating in the north of Iraq with Saddams approval (the 9/11-Saddam connection).

What's it gonna be this time?

a) He's lying

b) He's stupid

Bill O'Reilly flip-flops
World no longer black and white

The latest Letterman appearance by former newsman and current sailor is to air tonight.
Amongst other things, the funnyman is set to explain that the world isn't just black and white.
That doesn't sound like the O'Reilly we know (and love).

"Humorless Dave rips O'Reilly" NY Post

"Let me ask you a question - was there more heinous, more dangerous violence taking place [before America invaded] Iraq, or is there more heinous, dangerous violence taking place now in Iraq?

"Oh, stop it," O'Reilly scolds the host. "Saddam Hussein slaughtered 300,000 to 400,000 people, all right, so knock it off . . . It isn't so black and white, Dave - it isn't, 'We're a bad country. Bush is an evil liar.' That's not true."

Appearently Bill had a problem with Saddam during the 80's (when he slaughtered a lot of those 300,000 to 400,000 people), which is very suprising since "ten years ago, nobody had even heard of Iraq".

"Somehow"

Kevin Tillman writes about his brother and America.

"After Pat’s Birthday" TruthDig

Somehow being politically informed, diligent, and skeptical has been replaced by apathy through active ignorance.

Somehow the same incompetent, narcissistic, virtueless, vacuous, malicious criminals are still in charge of this country.

Somehow this is tolerated.

Somehow nobody is accountable for this.

In a democracy, the policy of the leaders is the policy of the people. So don’t be shocked when our grandkids bury much of this generation as traitors to the nation, to the world and to humanity. Most likely, they will come to know that “somehow” was nurtured by fear, insecurity and indifference, leaving the country vulnerable to unchecked, unchallenged parasites.

Luckily this country is still a democracy.  People still have a voice. People still can take action. It can start after Pat’s birthday.

NASA x 2

"NASA and NOAA Announce Antarctic Ozone Hole Is a Record Breaker" NASA

"From September 21 to 30, the average area of the ozone hole was the largest ever observed, at 10.6 million square miles," said Paul Newman, atmospheric scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. If the stratospheric weather conditions had been normal, the ozone hole would be expected to reach a size of about 8.9 to 9.3 million square miles, about the surface area of North America.

Every election year, these party leaders make what many of us see as anti-gay appeals to religious conservative voters who object to what they disparagingly call the "homosexual lifestyle." What these party leaders don't tell these voters is how many of them actually lead secret lives which include sexual encounters with members of the same sex.

We still can't decide how to refer to Newt Gingrich.
We used to call him "firepants", cause he's a lying little weasel (plus it's his WWE name), but lately "intern fucker shagger" seems more appropriate.
Anyway...

"Newt vs Nancy" Glenn Greenwald

Newt Gingrich argued yesterday that Republicans should remind the electorate that "Republicans are right to favor traditional American conservative social values, and the left is completely wrong to put San Francisco left-wing values third in line to be President by electing Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) to speaker of the House."
...
In 1981, Newt dumped his first wife, Jackie Battley, for Marianne, wife number 2, while Jackie was in the hospital undergoing cancer treatment. Marianne and Newt divorced in December, 1999 after Marianne found out about Newt's long-running affair with Callista Bisek, his one-time congressional aide. Gingrich asked Marianne for the divorce by phoning her on Mother's Day, 1999.

Kick Ass Lib Song Of The Day

Jarvis Cocker "C**nts are still running the world"

Former Pulp frontman and... God, Jarvis returns with this little sing-a-long tune.
Don't like foul language. Don't listen.

Well did you hear, there’s a natural order.
Those most deserving will end up with the most.
That the cream cannot help but always rise up to the top,
Well I say: * floats.
If you thought things had changed,
Friend you’d better think again,
Bluntly put in the fewest of words,
* are still running the world,
* are still running the world.

Now the working classes are obsolete,
They are surplus to societies needs,
So let ‘em all kill each other,
And get it made overseas.
That’s the word don’t you know,
From the guys thats running the show,
Lets be perfectly clear boys and girls,
* are still running the world,
* are still running the world.

Oh feed your children on Cray fish and Lobster tails,
Find a school near the top of the league,
In theory I respect your right to exist,
I will kill ya if you move in next to me,
Ah it stinks, it sucks, it’s anthropologically unjust,
But the takings are up by a third, Oh So
* are still running the world,
* are still running the world.

Your free market is perfectly natural,
Or do you think that I’m some kind of dummy,
It’s the ideal way to order the world,
* the morals, does it make any money?
And if you don’t like it? Then leave.
Or use your right to protest on the street,
Yeah, use your rights but don’t imagine that it’s heard, Oh no no,
* are still running the world,
* are still running the world.

Millionaire Lieberman speaks.

"Lieberman: Dems must change
the tone in Washington" CNN

Liz Dupont-Diehl, a spokeswoman for Lamont, said the three-term senator isn't taking responsibility for helping set the tone in Washington. Lieberman has called for an end to partisan politics, but Lamont has criticized him for siding too often with Republicans and President Bush.

"It's certainly hard to tell from Sen. Lieberman's comments that he's the incumbent," she said. "It seems that he's trying hard not to own up to the fact that he's been there for 18 years."
