Big Business-erection
Ron Paul on Bill Maher

Sadly only one issue is talked about. We wanted to hear what he had to say about those free trade zones he's so in love with. There was also no mention of the fence between the US and Mexico, gay rights, abortion, how black men are really fast cause they're used to running away, his love for union-busting, his huge love for guns (to "fight the tyranny of government" - just not overseas). And where was the issue of taxes? Taxes, taxes, taxes. He loves to hate those fascist taxes.
Even though we would have liked Bill to call him on how he's against restrictions on how much money you can give to a candidate when he made that bitter 100 million dollar joke in the beginning. We are, however, very happy that Bill has someone on that is realistic about how the flip-flopping foreign policies of the US has to change.

Who Would Jesus Turn Away?

"I'm thankful to the Swedish people," he said. "They are compassionate. They follow the things Jesus taught. They let a man be human."
- Iraqi refugee Emad Abbass

"Iraqis finding a haven in Sweden"
LA Times

This is life adrift. More than 2 million Iraqis have fled their homeland since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. Most are living in Syria, Jordan and other Middle Eastern nations. Now, a growing number are heading toward Europe, especially Sweden, which for decades has offered refugees and asylum seekers government aid and generous family reunification plans. Nearly 9,000 Iraqis, more than half of all those who arrived in Europe from the war-torn country in 2006, made their way to Sweden. European officials estimate that as many as 40,000 more Iraqis may reach the continent this year.

Since the overthrow of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, the United States has taken in 466 Iraqi refugees. Washington has been reluctant to accept them for fear that doing so would run counter to U.S. policy to one day return them to a secure Iraq. There also have been concerns about mistakenly granting asylum to militants.
